The Implications of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) on Students’ Productivity in Hostel Buildings

In recent years, sick building syndrome (SBS) has emerged as a major issue across Asia. The aim of this study is to investigate associations between the SBS and its implication towards students' well-being productivity in four (4) hostel buildings Taiping, Perak. Four hundred (n = 400) questionnaires were distributed on purpose students part quantitative research design. most significant effect Sick Building Syndrome pupils disruption their ability concentrate classroom. Symptoms such fatigue drowsiness, dizziness, sore throat, dryness are common ones that experience when residing hostels. Totally, 61% reported being unable studies, 38% unhealthy inactive hostel, 19% do not get enough sleep. This important for students, researchers, educational institutions, society it addresses prevalence symptoms environments. Its findings can contribute creating healthier more productive living conditions students.
